What makes the game of golf so popular?

Golf is a sport that is enjoying tremendous popularity. Interest in the game is growing for both spectators and players. This article looks at a few of the factors that are combining to make golf so enjoyable for people all over the world. Televised international golf championships reach millions of people attracted by the competition, the big name players, and the quality of the broadcasts. Well-spoken and knowledgeable commentators working along with skilled camera and production crews are making the viewing of professional golf more compelling with each new season. Individually, and despite the close quarters and huge amounts of prize money on the line, the pro golfers demonstrate civility and good sportsmanship. The excitement of the matches shines through despite the high levels of self control that we see as golfers experience triumph or disappointment at every shot, making televised golf a unique pleasure.

Golf, by its nature, is a game and a sport that lends itself to participation by the whole family. Not only that, golf can be enjoyed playing alone, on teams or in a group. There are even 3D Golf Games Online that are attracting large numbers of active players. More people are beginning to take up the challenges of golfing with each passing season. Golf’s increasing popularity is undoubtedly helped by the shorter work week that many employees enjoy. There are increasing numbers of retirees, bolstered by early retirement opportunities, that are also adding to the pool of golfers. This growth of the game of golf and that of the online golf game is being seen throughout the world.

A unique advantage of this sport is its handicapping system which allows a leveling of the field for players of varying ability and skill. There is now software available online to make customized golf scorecards to keep track of your handicap.

In golf, no two rounds are ever identical. Whether competing on different courses or playing your favorite local course, the challenges from game to game are never going to be the same. The variety of shots involved in mastering eighteen holes of golf ensures that every player’s judgment and skill are continuously challenged and can be endlessly sharpened and improved.

The tranquility and beauty of many golf courses is no small part of this sport’s allure. But, no matter the setting, each fairway and green presents new opportunities for golfers to refine their course management and technical skills. Getting started at the game is simple. You can get an initial feel for golf with as few as two clubs, say a 5-iron and a putter. Borrowing or renting equipment, early in a golfer’s career, conserves the cash that can be put to excellent use later on when it is known what clubs are best to invest in. To summarize then, some reasons for golf’s popularity include the excellent coverage on TV, the wholesome look and behavior of the players, its ease of entry for the young and old alike, the handicapping system, and the endless variety of challenges. And don’t overlook the fact that you can play a golf game online and have a load of fun.

Mallet Putters are a Big Hit

If you’ve been paying attention, you will know that mallet putters are very popular right now. This is partly due to the increased stability this type of putter gives to the golfer while putting. A mallet putter is extremely balanced, has a larger putting head than blade style putters, and almost always are heavier than a traditional putter.

Mallet style putters also boast a higher MOI than blade style putters. Simply put, this indicates that the putterhead will twist less on an off-center hit, so the ball stays on a straighter line and loses less of it’s speed than when struck by a normal putter. Mallet style putters typically include highly visible alignment systems that help you aim short putts with ease. Some of the most helpful designs are the Odyssey putters, especially their new White Hot XG line of mallet putters.

Due to the added mass and higher MOI, mallet putters fell very solid, even on less than optimal contact. If you normally use a conventional putter, you may be surprised at how easy it is to strike the ball solidly and how little force is needed. It will take some practice to prevent the ball from racing past the hole.

Many purists feel that a more traditional style putter offers more feel during the putting stroke. This is partly true, but other golfers feel the extreme MOI of mallet-style patters actually translates into considerable feel, even on long putts or those tough downhill putts. One of the most important aspects of touch putts is getting the ball started on the right line, and high MOI mallet putters do that job perfectly.

One of the places where mallet putters really shine is on short putts under 10 feet. These are the money putts in golf. The more of this length putt you make during a round, the better your score will be. The same characteristics of mallet putters - more mass, higher MOI and sophisticated alignment aids - will help you make more of those little ones that can make or break a round of golf.

Mallet style putters perform most optimally with a mecahnical, pendulum style putting stroke. If that’s not your stlyle, it doesn’t mean you can’t use a mallet putter. But it can deprive you of all the game improvement features mallet putters provide. If you aren’t willing to change your style, you may want to check out some the newer mid-mallets putters.

The new Mallet designs sometimes seem rather funky, but many still have a fairly traditional look. If you can handle the large, geometric shapes of some of the newer-style mallet putters (like the Odyssey White Hot Sabertooth putter), you will find them to be a big help to your golf game. If you prefer a more demure look, some of the more conventional mid-mallet putters may suit you best.

Many golfers have switched to higher MOI mallet-style putters for quite awhile. Perhaps now is the time for you to test one out.

Must Have Golf Accessories

You need right golf accessories to play well. Here is a quick check list of some common must have golf accessories. If you don’t have any of them yet, then you should put them right on top of you Christmas shopping list before you go for your golf vacation.

The first thing you need is golf clubs. If you need to look cool or impress someone, you can easily pay $1000-$2000 for name brand golf clubs. If you just want good quality golf clubs but don’t want to pay the steep price, the answer may be in quality custom made golf clubs. Even though they sound more expensive, they are not. Here is an article about why you should use clone golf clubs. For rookies who keep losing their balls or golfers who cannot keep track of the balls they have hit, this is a god-send. People buy different types and brands of glasses that can keep the golf ball outlined against the grass. These glasses remove light emitting from non-ball objects so that the only visible object in your line of vision is the errant ball.

Putting greens that throw balls your way and provide inputs on your strokes are must-haves with serious golfers. You may have thought that tees have become as sophisticated as possible but a new version is out these days.

This tee comes with a top surface that is made from a brush-like material. This prevents the tee from being ripped out or damaged because your club merely brushes past it instead of impacting it hard.

And the hi-tech golfers all use the scorekeeper which looks a bit like the GameBoy, but it keeps score and does all the mathematical calculations for them. Many of these have advanced gps systems built in to give you yardages to each hole. One of the best is the Sky Caddie series. Here is a link to find the lowest price Golf Gps devices.  You need golf wristwatch which displays your handicap. You need golf ball cleanser if you thought about re-using your golf balls by cleaning them professionally.

Perhaps your head is already spinning and your mouth drooling. Well, keep drooling because there are probably more sophisticated golf accessories hitting the market even as you read this article.

Beginner Golf Tips

Golf is a sport, and like every sport, it is something that is learned. When you are serious about playing golf, you will want to think of ways that you can play and become good at this game. When you want to show the off your abilities, you need to make sure that you have something to show off. You do not want to look like an amateur on the golf course; you want to look like you are a pro.

The first thing you need is to get a good set of custom fitted golf clubs. This may sound expensive, but not if you buy online. You can get quality knock off golf clubs for very little money online. These are quality golf clubs that are custom fitted to you and will help you play your best golf.

The best thing that you can do when you are a new to golf is practice. This is something that is important in any sport. Golf is no exception. You are not going to be good at this game over night. It is something that you have to be serious about so that you can figure out what you have to do to get your game together.

As a beginner at golf you should practice your swing. Once you have the swing that you need and want down, you will want to make sure that you have the right iron. You will go through many different ones during your game and you will soon realize that you will have your favorites. Some irons will do better for you than others. It is going to be all in your swing to determine where your ball lands.

You can go to the green to practice or you can use your backyard. If you have a nice sized yard, you can set it up and practice there in private first before you move ahead to the green. This may be better for anyone that is looking to become good and improve as they go. This is something that may be a little bit easier for the person to do as well.

Another way to become good at the game of golf is to read all that you can on it. You should make sure that you understand the rules and the way the game should be played. When you know what you need to do and how you need to do it, you will soon see a big improvement in your game.

You should also try and watch professional golfers play the game. You can watch them on television or you can watch the others that play on the same green as you. Take in how they are swinging and their technique. This is a good way for you to see what they are doing and how you may be able to use some of their techniques in your own personal game as well.

Remember as a new golfer take your time and have fun. You are not going to become a professional over night and it is important to use what you know to your advantage. You will be a better player and find that you earn more respect when you finally do end up playing and winning.

Clone Golf Clubs for a Tough Economy

There are many reasons to get a new set of golf clubs. New club technology makes it easier to get the ball in the air. New club designs give you more distance on mis-hits. Cutting edge golf equipment makes the game more enjoyable and fun.

That is, until you have to pay for it.

Golf clubs and other equipment is expensive. With the economy as bad as it is, everyone is looking for  discount golf irons and value-priced golf club drivers. Still, that new Callaway or Ping driver looks nice, doesn’t it?

But does it really cost $500 to make that new driver? Of course not. The materials for that pricey driver are around $10-20. So who’s getting rich? A lot of people are taking their cut along the way. The club manufacturer pays an entire staff of research scientists to come up with the latest innovations. They spend big bucks on TV, magazine and other print media ads. They pay huge endorsements to PGA touring pros so they will play their equipment and wear their logo. All that cost’s money. And then, of course they have to add in their own profit for share holders.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get that same quality of club without having to pay the pros endorsements (as if they don’t already make enough!) and other associated costs?

Did you know you already can?

They are called clone golf clubs. These are clubs that have head components cast and forged at the same foundries overseas that make the name brand golf equipment. These components are then assembled in the US with quality shafts and grips. You get a quality club for 1/4 to 1/5 the price of a name brand golf club.

There are several different companies who sell knockoff drivers, irons and other golf club clones. One of the best ways is to visit an aggregator site that shows you some of the best clubs from different clone golf club manufactureres. One such site is www.DiscountGolfClones.com.

The best thing is that you can get that new set of golf clubs, even in this brutal economy, and not feel guilty about it at all. In fact, with the money you save, you will actually have the money to spend on green fees so you can enjoy them on the course.

Hit ‘em long and straight!

Knockoff Golf Clubs - High Quality Or Junk?

Knockoff golf clubs include a variety of clubs for golfers after leaving the fairway. A golfer who leaves the fairway and ends up in a sand trap will find the perfect club for getting out of one of these traps effectively. These types of clubs for the average golfer will work just fine. Used clubs will also work fine. Knockoff golf clubs of your favorite brand name clubs play just like the real thing. In fact, all other things being equal, we would put our clubs up against any pro line club out there.

Knockoff golf clubs can be constructed from the same quality materials as their more expensive counterparts, use the same design techniques, and perform at the same level as the more popular name brands. The materials that go into these clubs are purchased from the same worldwide manufacturers who produce golf heads for Cobra, Callaway, Wilson, Taylor Made, Titleist, and others. These types of clubs have always been the Rodney Dangerfield of golf clubs .they get no respect. But the question is .do they deserve it? Knockoff golf clubs are often also called knock offs and come in two varieties. The first is where a smaller club builder will build several lines of clubs to be sold in discount golf stores.

Additionally, Knock off golf irons are available in every type of club that a golfer would take in the bag for a great score. Most of the time they can be obtained with a 30-day play guarantee. If you don’t like the clubs after playing them for 30-days, return them. Knockoff golf clubs are a good investment for those people, who are amateurs in the field of golf. There are numerous golfers, who are still playing with the knockoff golf clubs which they had purchased many years ago, simply due to their performance.

The only way to buy quality new clubs at an affordable price is to get quality knock off clubs. Whether you are looking for a set of irons, a putter, new wedges or a knock off golf driver, you are sure to find what you want at a good price, and still have money left to play some golf!

Are The Top Pros Any Good For Golf Swing Tips?

If you’re looking for golf swing instructions, that may seem like a silly question. You may think that of course the top pro golfers are great for golf swing tips or short game tips, because who wouldn’t want to play like Tiger Woods, right?

Wrong.

Yes, of course we do all dream of playing like him and the other champion golfers, but with all due respect, it seems to me that there two main reasons why Tiger Woods would probably not be particularly good as your teacher.

The first one is that he is not a teacher, he is a professional golf player. His job, how he makes his living, is to compete in golf tournaments. He does not make his living as an instructor, so he has probably not had much (if any) experience or training in how to teach beginners or amateur players. Less gifted players have difficulties and questions that the top players may never have needed to address.

Even if they do have some of the same problems, before every practice or tournament round that he plays, while a champion golfer goes through his hour-long warm-up working though his bag of clubs, he will be observed. He will be watched by maybe his fitness instructor, maybe his psychologist, but absolutely he will be watched by his coach! It is the coach that is the teacher, not the player.

In fact most champion pros, and Woods is no exception, will have changed their swing and other major points of their game at some point in their career. When they did, you can bet they did not do it all by themselves. They did it under instruction from their coach.

The second reason why pros may not be the best guide to follow, is that their strokes are tailored to their style of game and their own body shape and muscular structure. There is a huge variety of different styles when it comes to the swing. The intended end result is exactly the same for all of them, but each player goes about it in the way that best suits them.

This is an important point, because your most effective golf swing will be the one that makes the most efficient use of the body you have. Although it may be useful to watch instructional videos giving various different approaches, in the end you will not receive your most effective golf swing instructions from copying another person, as their swing has been honed for their own individual body.

These two key points are good reasons why you if you want to improve your game with good golf swing instructions, seek golf swing tips from a teacher rather than a competing professional player.

Golfing In The USA

Golf has been a long time sport of many in the United States. There are many different beautiful golf courses that you can be a part of, and you could spend your life traveling through all of the states and enjoying each and every golf course.

The famous ones, such as the Pebble Beach golf course, allow you to golf alongside some of the best golfers in the world. You might get to see a tournament, and you might get to play a round of golf knowing that there are professionals a couple of holes ahead of you. You can find beautiful Pebble Beach Golf Course Art Prints to remind you of your stay.

The most amazing thing about the sport of golf in this United States is that no matter which state you are in you can golf in a place that is completely different and beautiful. Golfing alongside deer and nature in wooded golf courses in states like Virginia and Vermont gives you a chance to come to grips with nature and to explore the beauty of being alone in the woods with your golf club and your ball. However, golfing near the ocean, in course in Oregon, Florida, or California, as well as any other bordering state, gives you a chance to be in a fresh and amazing environment, where you can look out on great expanses of beauty and commune with the ocean in that way. If neither of these seems like it might interest you, try the golf courses in the Midwest states. Golfing in Wyoming or South Dakota or Iowa gives you chance to look at the beauty of nothingness – areas where you can see for miles and miles and see nothing but flat land. These public golf courses give you wonderful opportunities to see the sunsets on the prairies of our fine country. If mountains are your thing, golfing against these backdrops in Utah or Montana is a great idea because the rugged terrain that you will encounter can be matched like no other in the world.

Those that do not know golf in the United States feel that each golf course is the same. The beauty of this sport lies in the fact that no matter where you go, even if you are performing the same motions, you’ll be surrounded by something completely different each time, and you’ll be allowed to find ways to give yourself the chance to have this beauty with you no matter where you golf in the United States.

Callaway Clone Golf Clubs varieties are umpteen basically due to the fact that Callaway still retains the position of the most renowned and leading golf club manufacturers around the globe. How to Develop a Repeatable Golf Swing

If you’re like most golfers, you’re always trying to find that “perfect” golf swing. I know I am. You know you can do it, because you’ve hit some of those great shots before. Doesn’t it feel great to hit that effortless shot? Don’t you wish you could do it every time? That would be a similar feeling of what the pro’s have most of the time. It would make golf so much more enjoyable!

So what’s keeping you from this goal? Will camping out at the range and beating balls hour after hour help? Or, are you already hitting several buckets every week? If you’re reading this, my guess is that’s not working too well. So, do you need more golf lessons? Or, have you had a ton of golf instruction but not seen improvement? If it’s none of the above, then what?

I can tell you what it is almost 100% for sure — it’s your MIND!
Your mind dictates your golf swing. Your body can do the proper thing — you’ve hit good shots before. The problem is not that your body is incapable, it’s that your mind is not sending the right messages to your body. The way you build a repeatable swing is to lock in the proper swing feel into your mind so that your mind can tell your body what to do on a subconscious level. To get your mind into such a state, you have to repeatedly practice the right motions. If you don’t practice the right motions, your mind never gets to the point of subconsciously controlling your swing. Hitting more balls or taking more golf lessons will not do anything good for you unless you are practicing something consistently.

You could try to buy one of those bizarre contraptions that force you to swing on a perfect plane. They actually do work, but who has room for a 8 foot tall by 6 foot wide tubular steel swing aid. I sure don’t. Fortunately, you don’t need one. There are many innovative golf training aids that work just as well and are much smaller. The best training aid I’ve found is the Medicus Driver. You’d be amazed at how quickly you can improve your golf swing and game using this hittable dual-hinged club. I like the driver because that is the club most people have trouble hitting.

But if you really want to get a well-rounded and consistent swing with your irons, too, be sure to also check out the Medicus 5 iron or the Medicus 7 iron. They will definitely improve your iron play, because they force you to swing the club in a consistent, proper motion, enabling your mind to “lock” that motion into the subconscious. The nice thig is that if you consistently practice with the Medicus clubs just a little bit each week, it will keep your swing in great shape and prevent you from getting some of those subtle errors creeping in.

Don’t keep looking for the silver bullet. The answer is in your head. You just need the right tool to unlock the potential. Now do something about it!
